Target Population
STAR, coopering with specific or outreach group, designs services or plans that satisfy each group’s needs to process effectively and eventually end TB and AIDS.
Reason why we works with this group
According to the outbreak investigation and the behavioral surveys, people who inject drugs are the main group that is at risk of HIV injections from using the mutual syringes but PWID comes after the MSM. As a result, the purpose of working with this group is to decrease the HIV infection.
How we work
The staffs and volunteers provides outreach services through peer-to-peer in order to get closer to the target group. They will give advice on instructions of using drugs, form the better understanding on HIV. PWID who have HIV will get advice, packages of knowledge to protect themselves from diseases (HIVS/AIDS, STI and Hepatitis B/C virus) which could occur by using the mutual syringes, also activities in their communities and HIV tested with mobile clinics.The staffs will take the group into the system and receive the service, if there are any HIV infections.

Reasons why we work with this group
The prevalence of the epidemic of HIV in MSM remains high as a result of overlooked protections in sexual intercourses without getting pregnancy. The diversity of gender is not really accepted in some areas; therefore some people get discriminates and accused that their sexual behaviors are abnormal/uncommon. Even the staffs who are in charge of taking care of them lack of the accurate understanding and consequently MSM or TG have been segregated from getting the appropriate services.

”Migrant workers
Reasons why we work with this group
As Thailand has a good economic condition and is the center of the Mekong region, there occur a number of migrants working in Thailand from neighboring countries (Myanmar, Lao, Cambodia). The HIV infection rate is not that high, compared to other target group but these problems below are the obstacles to the reduction of HIV infection.
Impediment in communication; lack of understanding of Thai language; lack of knowledge of diseases prevention or treatment; not realizing the rights, having low financial conditions, and getting stigma or discriminations are key problems faced by migrants.
These mentioned obstacles restrain migrants from receiving the knowledge to protect themselves and from attending to the health services. Then the infection risk rate in migrants group still remains. The civil society thus should take care of this group because of the restrictions of laws and their social statuses.
How we work
The staffs and volunteers reach the migrants, who come to thailand legally and illegally by employing RRTTR complying with the national strategy to end TB and AIDS. They provide knowledge towards HIV and TB, distribute prevention equipment (e.g. condoms and hygienic masks) and persuade people to get blood tested willingly through mobile clinics in order to diagnose HIV. Then they will take the group to reach the proper service at hospitals or ask for the cooperation with provincial nurses or medical technicians to establish blood testing center in the areas where there are the number of migrants living.

Reasons why we work with this group
Sex workers are at risk because of their occupations and education. They even cannot choose whether to use the prevention equipment or not as it is all depending on their clients. Additionally, SW received serious stigma, discriminations and their occupations are not fully accepted by the laws or the common. That is the reason why it is difficult for them to reach the prevention service of HIV or other related diseases. Currently, there are sex workers who are not Thai and that is way more difficult to get the proper health services and social statuses. The accumulation of juvenile sex workers or online sex workers also causes it to be more complicated to provide them the right services.
How we work
The staffs and volunteers work under the concept of RRTTR which holds onto the respect for human dignity and is transformed to match the way of life or conditions that SW have. They process through the peer-led intervention which provides peer-to-peer service so that the target group feel pleased and convinced to get to the system.
